a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for network infrastructure applications, today announced that Firmix has integrated a customized application programming interface (API) channel module for Comcerto enterprise voice-over-IP (VoIP) processors into the Asterisk Open Source PBX application, enhancing the time-to-market advantage of enterprise equipment customers designing open-source-based PBX systems.
Based in Vienna, Austria, Firmix Software GmbH, is a leading developer of customized Linux-based software. Integrating Mindspeed’s Comcerto VoIP processors with the Asterisk Open Source PBX application and customized Firmix API module provides a complete system-on-chip PBX solution with carrier-class quality and performance.

Mindspeed’s
Comcerto architecture is optimized for VoIP applications with separate signal and packet processors. It integrates high-performance DSP cores and a packet-processing engine with industry-standard streaming packet interfaces to provide a high-density VoIP and voice-over-ATM system on a single chip.
Comcerto processors can also be combined with other open-source software applications to provide developers with an embedded platform for creating a wide variety of new services and capabilities.
