Overview

Description

The M21004 is a very low power, highly integrated, dual channel, backplane equalizer and redriver with optimized power and performance for Serial Digital Interface (SDI) video applications.

Each independent channel features a 50Ω input buffer with configurable trace equalization capable of compensating for losses across 40" of FR4 and two connectors. Each channel also includes a 50Ω output buffer with configurable de-emphasis to aid transmission of the signal across long FR4 trace lengths. Furthermore, the device includes a 2x2 crosspoint switch which enables either of the two input signals to be routed to any of the two outputs or broadcasted to both.

The M21004 is designed to operate from a 1.2V DC supply voltage. However, integrated regulators allow the device to be powered from 1.8V, 2.5V, or 3.3V supply voltage rails, offering ultimate flexibility. Furthermore, the power rails for the input and output circuitry are electrically independent from each other and the core supply and as such may be connected to a different voltage rail on the board. This feature enables the M21004 to be DC coupled to any upstream and downstream device in the 1.2V to 3.3V range without the need for level shifting.
