Mindspeed’s networking, storage, and computing products are engineered to provide designers with industry leading signal integrity and physical layer switching solutions across multiple communication standards. Featuring Amplif-Eye™ signal conditioning technology, Mindspeed offers both re-driving (equalization) and re-timing/CDR (clock and data recovery) products which solve critical challenges in data transmission across backplanes,copper cables and other media.
With the perpetual demand for more bandwidth, system designers are challenged with data rates that have rapidly increased with each generation of equipment. Amplif-Eye™ signal conditioner technology enables a smooth transition for next generation PCI Express, SAS/SATA, Ethernet, Fibre Channel and proprietary signaling by correcting for insertion loss, crosstalk, reflections due to impedance mismatches and other channel impairments. The integration of cosspoint switch functionality allows simple implementation of redundancy switching, loop back and data monitoring to increase system robustness and shorten time to market.
Mindspeed’s Amplif-Eye™ signal conditioning technology can be found in the industry's broadest portfolio of port count and data rates from 3Gbps to 11.5Gbps in sizes from single port to 288 ports.
Redriver or Equalizer: Core to Amplif-Eye technology, Equalizers are used to correct for timing variation introduced by a channel using frequency domain and time domain techniques. Available in both adaptive and programmable modes, Amplif-Eye equalizers are an optimal way to solve common signal integrity challenges.
Retimer or Clock and Data Recover (CDR): In many applications, an equalized signal can be further improved by redefining digital transitions using a local reference clock, or a reference clock embedded within the data stream. Retimers / CDRs provide this additional clean up function and are an important part of Amplif-Eye technology.
Crosspoint Switch: Provides the capability to switch any input channel to any output channel in a multi-port device. Crosspoints can also be used for broadcasting data, provide 2:1/1:2 redundancy switching or loopback diagnostic functionality. Mindspeed crosspoints represents a cost effective means to switch massive amounts of data with extremely low latency.
Output Driver: The last stage in a signal conditioning device is the output driver. Amplif-Eye output drivers are designed to provide high level s of flexibility to allow designers to optimize its characteristics for a given application or channel. This includes amplitude control, channel pre-compensation (often referred to as de-emphasis) and rise/fall time control in multi-rate applications.
