Overview
Description
EdgeMaker,operating on the Edge Stream Processor (ESP), provides internetworking between packet-, cell-, and circuit-based networks. Typically employed at the boundary between the customer premise and the core network, EdgeMaker performs the data stream manipulation and traffic management required to interwork between dissimilar networks. EdgeMaker communicates with other system components through the interfaces of the ESP. The UTOPIA, TDM, and PCI interfaces are used to carry user data streams. The PCI interface is also used for management data such as configuration and control messages.
