Screening Process
Mindspeed received over 1,000 resumes in the last 3 years for its intern positions. Over half of the resumes were obtained at on-campus recruiting activities and events. Another third were come through faculty referrals and recommendations. A paper screen is initially conducted on applicants. Selected individuals are then telephone screened by the manager or recriuiter followed by an invitation for an on-site interview, as appropriate.
Orientation
All summer interns receive a special orientation and tour of the facility on the first day of employment. These orientations are conducted in small groups and are intended to assist the summer interns in assimilating into the Mindspeed culture.
Mentors
Each intern is assigned a mentor who provides technical assistance and serves as a role model for the students. The mentors are carefully selected by management and are responsible for the general supervision of the students. Mentors are also expected to stay in touch with their interns during the school year.
End of Internship
Follow-up Interns are given an opportunity to complete a written evaluation during their exit interview. Managers and mentors submit a written intern and program evaluation.
